Fillers and Tissue Augmentation
Are your cheeks becoming hollower with age? Do you see previously non-existent lines and wrinkles appearing, and the shape and contours of your face changing?
Naturally present in the skin, Hyaluronic Acid is a substance that plays a fundamental role in its maintenance. Hyaluronic Acid moisturises your skin, giving it elasticity and firmness for a smooth, plump appearance. But over time, the quantity of Hyaluronic Acid present in your body decreases. By the ages of 40 to 50, your body has already lost 50% of its hyaluronic acid stores. As a result, the overall harmony of your face is altered.
Dermal fillers are gel-like substances comprised of hyaluronic acid, injected into the skin to increase volume, soften wrinkles, enhance lips, and restore the youthful contours of your face. It binds water, hydrating the skin, improving the tone, and keeping it firm and healthy looking. By absorbing water, it increases in volume and takes up space in the tissues for a fuller impression.
Found naturally in your body, Hyaluronic Acid is totally biodegradable and safe.
Dermal fillers are typically used to increase the volume of facial tissues in areas such as:
- nasolabial folds (dermal fillers are great for lines or folds from the sides of the nose to the end of the lips)
- chin (softening early jowls)
- lip enhancement
- hollows under the eyes
- lines around the mouth and between the eyebrows
How many treatments are required?
A one-time injection. Dermal filler treatments can be repeated as often as you feel necessary, usually about once a year.
How long does it last?
The benefits can last for up to two years.
How long does each treatment take?
Treatments take between 20-30 minutes according to the size of the area treated with fillers.
How long does it take to recover?
Usually there is no downtime. After the procedure you can go back to your normal life. However there is a minor possibility of bruising in the area of the fillers which may be visible 2-3 days after the treatment.
Is it safe?
All dermal fillers used by VITAL are globally-recognised as being of the highest quality and reputation. As a result, all fillers used in our clinic are considered safe treatment options. In very rare cases, possible allergic reactions and granuloma formation might be encountered.
Does it hurt?
It is a little bit painful but, depending on your pain threshold, we can either numb the skin with a topical cream or use a local anaesthetic to give you a completely pain-free treatment.
Are there any side effects?
There are minimal side effects including slight bruising, redness, swelling, tenderness, and itching in the treated area. This discomfort is usually temporary and disappears within three days. Long-term side effects are rare and include possible granuloma formation, nodules or migration of the implanted material.
Do I need anaesthesia?
There is no need for local anaesthesia as most of the fillers used at VITAL are mixed with Lidocaine in order to make the treatment quite painless for our patients. Additional anaesthesia might be used in certain cases.
